Cocktails at singlebarrel with the high school boys.
Singlebarrel: The “latest and greatest” in South Bay nightlife. While speakeasies are a dime a dozen in Manhattan, I will admit San Jose’s first foray into a Prohibition-era style cocktail lounge is the most interesting drinking establishment I’ve chanced upon within a 20-mile vicinity of my good ol’ hometown. Ambience isn’t anything special (Dear Bay Area bars: “dimly lit” is not a type of decor), and the line snaking out the door destroys any semblance of secrecy. But the bartender surprised me with his ability to mix up cocktails that were actually incredibly point with my palate. The Red Lion and Club Clover - both strong but tasty!
